Crested Butte Though
Crested Butte's claim to fame is its status as the place where mountain
biking got its start, winter visitors will fall in love with the fluffy
mountain powder that skiers and snowboarders love on the 1,434 acres of
terrain. In addition to the draw of the incredible skiing and
snowboarding, the charming town of Crested Butte, a National Historic
District, captivates visitors and gives them a sense of Colorado's
colorful and rich history. Crested Butte is smaller and a much more cozy
town than Breckenridge and aspen. It is much more laid back and a very
enjoyable destination. There are many pubs, restaurants, shops, and
recreational activities to provide plenty of things to do on a
winter or summer vacation to this beautiful example of a Rocky Mountain
getaway. In the summer around August the high country wild flower
display's are to die for.

Cuchara This
resort is still closed although new owners are trying to get it open
possibly for the 2007 season. Located along the scenic Highway of
Legends in beautiful south-central Colorado, the small resort of Cuchara
offers four lifts and one tow on approximately 230 acres of terrain. In
addition to skiing and snowboarding, folks can enjoy snowshoeing,
tubing, sleigh rides, and cross-country skiing. Link |

Echo Mountain Park Located
35 miles west of Denver, Colorado. West on I-70 to the Evergreen Parkway
(CO-74) then (highway 103) southwest eleven miles to the mountain. It is
now the closest resort for most Front
range boarders and skiers. Echo Mountain is is 100% covered by
snowmaking equipment so there is plenty of the white stuff. Further
they are open until 9PM every night, Echo Mountain is an all freestyle

Eldora Ski Area Located
21 miles west of Boulder, Colorado, and just 50 miles from Ft Collins,
Loveland and Denver the Eldora Resort is the closest resort to the Front
range skier. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the good variety of
terrain, the majority of which is intermediate, and an excellent
cross-country ski park which draws visitors from all the Front Range

Howelsen Hill Steamboat
Howelson Hill, a tiny ski area located in the historic town of Steamboat
Springs, holds a unique place in the annals of skiing history. It is the
oldest ski hill in continuous use. This ski jumping and ski
training hill has sent over 50 competitors to Olympic competitions all
over the world.

Keystone has
extensive terrain covering three mountains and ranges from well-groomed

Loveland Ski Area. Encompassing
more than 1,300 acres of varied terrain,
with a high of about 13,000 feet Ski Loveland has something to offer every level of skier or
snowboarder. Beginners come to the Loveland Valley base area, which is
also full up with beginner classes on most days The more advanced Loveland
high country features balck diamond runs that will get your blood moving
quickly with excitement. With an
average of 400 inches of snow per year, Loveland is sure to please
anyone seeking the light, powdery snow that makes Colorado a world-class

Monarch This Colorado
ski area is best known for its incredible, all-natural powder, no
snowmaking is necessary here! Visitors to this beautiful, smaller resort
in south-central Colorado experience short lift lines and love its down-to-earth friendliness.
Monarch boast great snowcat tours for the non-skier and skier alike on
over 770 acres of pristine forest land in
the magnificent San Isabel National Forest.

Powderhorn sits nestled
against the mountains 35 minutes southeast of Grand
Junction on Colorado's western slope. It is well known for its hassle
free atmosphere. It's one quad lift, two doubles,
and one surface lift provide access to a good diversity of terrain: 20%
beginner; 20% advanced; and 60% intermediate. Opening day scheduled for

Purgatory Native Coloradoans love this resort that lies just
down the road from the famous mountain town of Durango. Known for its terrific
groomed, intermediate-level ski runs, Purgatory Ski Resort also
offers challenging bumps, long steep slopes, and nicely forested beginner
slopes. After a day on the mountain, visitors can lose themselves in the Old
West charm of Durango. Scattered throughout two historic districts,
you'll find dozens of fine restaurants, unique shops, and art galleries.
When not skiing be sure to take the famous
narrow gauge Durango-Silverton train that runs year-round. Opens

Silverton Mountain. This
Colorado ski area is now ranked number one in steeps and number one in
powder in the US by Ski magazine. This area has guided only sking
for the 2005/2006 season.

Sol Vista formerly Silver Creek
Sol Vista offers 1 quad lift, 1 triple chair, 1 double chair, 1 poma, and 1
surface lift, which together provide access to its 33 trails over two
mountains. East mountain is beginner and intermediate and west mountain
is intermediate and advanced. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers a
diverse array of outdoor wintertime fun. Cross country skiers enjoy the
40km Nordic Trail System, a lighted tubing hill provides downhill
thrills, and snow biking (yep, a bike with skis!) is allowed. Opens
December 14.

Ski Copper bills
itself as the 'Affordable Family Area,' where visitors can enjoy a
friendly atmosphere, good service, and diversified terrain. The slopes
are 30% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 30% advanced, and a snowboard
park is available, weather permitting. Cross-country skiers find plenty
of trails at the Piney Creek Nordic Center. And for those who seek
something a little out of the ordinary, you might like to visit the
Tennessee Pass Cookhouse - after a one mile guided cross country ski or
snowshoe, guests sit in the comfort of a yurt and enjoy a delicious

Snowmass one of the four
Aspen resorts is known for its long, groomed cruising runs. Twenty lifts
carry skiers and snowboarders to 3,010 acres of ski able terrain. For
snowboarders, Snowmass offers two half pipes, two terrain parks, a
four-mile run with terrain-park features and strap-on benches at the top
of each lift. Over 40% of Snowmass' terrain is steep and challenging,
and 'the Cirque', including runs that are favorites among advanced
skiers and riders.
